Slow Mornings with me:

Simple Rituals and Nourishing Eats

Settle in friends, this is going to be a fun one! I’m walking you through my slow morning routine: skincare rituals, coffee obsessions, and a few of my favorite finds that help me start each day feeling grounded and refreshed.

Mornings in my home start around 7:30 and not by choice. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been waking up at this time — my mom always jokes that she never had to deal with children that you see in movies or TV that just want to sleep in. My internal alarm has always been there, and very rarely gives me an hour or so more. And yes this is Monday through Sunday. It’s unfortunate sometimes, but I’ve learned to make the most of it!

As soon as I wake up, I usually hear the pitter patter of Miss Scarlett making her way towards my side of the bed for morning scratches and cuddles. After a bit, I’ll get up and head right to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Over the last year, my husband turned me onto electric toothbrushes. I don’t know why, but I was genuinely scared they’d ruin my enamel instead, I’ve had my healthiest teeth in years! Less cavities and a brighter smile. I use the PHILIPS Sonicare Protective Clean 6500 which I snagged during a Amazon Prime Big Deal Day, and my dentist says my teeth have never looked better.

After I brush my teeth, I wash my face with the Youth to the People Superfood Gentle Cleanser which has been my ride or die ever since an Ipsy event in Miami (years ago!). It’s gentle, smells fresh, and leaves my skin clean and bright instead of tight and dry. Then I’ll gel up my face and put my NuFace to work, I got it as a Christmas present last year and I’m obsessed with the results. The only downside? If you stop using it consistently, your skin slowly retreats to its previous puffiness. I have a bit of a round face, large cheeks and all so this has been a game changer for me! I know you can leave the gel on your face, and it may work for some, but for me it breaks me out, so I’ll do another cleanse then lather my face in toner, serums, and creams depending on what my skin needs that day. My finishing touch is the Primally Pure Sunscreen Stick it melts in beautifully and doesn’t leave that dreaded white cast. I love pairing it with their Lavender Natural Deodorant and their Vanilla and Almond Body Butter for a full-body glow. Once I’m good and glazed, I get dressed and take Scarlett out for a short walk. Since moving to Florida, our long afternoon strolls have turned into early-morning power walks before the sun gets intense.

Once we’re back inside, I turn on my love Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine (I’m genuinely hooked). When I travel, I’m in utter despair because I’ve perfected my at-home latte. One of my go to concoctions being a cinnamon honey latte. I drizzle in a spoonful of Goldswarm Honey for a hint of floral sweetness that makes every sip feel café-level perfection.

Next I’ll head to my office and do a little morning workout, while Scarlett watches and silently judges. Once my body has had enough torture, it’s time for breakfast. I’ll prep Scarlett’s breakfast first, yes she gets homemade food, and yes I heat it up for her every morning. She’s my fur baby, she deserves the best! Then I’ll get to start on mine, it’ll either be a few protein waffles that I typically prep on Sundays and store in the freezer or some sort of avocado toast egg situation. As my food cooks I’ll get started on my morning latte. Then sit down for breakfast and journal a bit before really digging into the day.

I’ve learned that slow mornings don’t have to mean doing less, they’re about doing things intentionally. From clean skincare to homemade waffles and honey lattes, these small rituals make me feel like I’m taking care of myself before the day takes over. If you’re looking to simplify your mornings, I’ve linked all my favorites above so you can build your own version of a slow, nourishing start.
