Maple Cinnamon Sugar Cookies

With the holidays in full swing, my kitchen turns into a nonstop baking machine. Between cookies swaps, holiday parties, and last-minute gatherings my oven works overtime! This recipe makes a double batch of cookies, which is perfect for holiday madness. I bake half right away and freeze the rest for the next round of festivities.

To be honest, this isn’t a fancy cookie recipe, and that’s exactly why I love it. It’s a simple, cozy, and filled with maple cinnamon that’ll make your kitchen smell amazing. This cookie hits the spot every time. If you’re baking with kids, break out the cookie cutters for some fun shapes especially around the holidays and pair them with some vanilla frosting and some sprinkles. Though to be honest, even the plain version of these cookies have a way of disappearing way too fast.

If you prefer something quicker? Use the bottom of a glass to press out perfect circles.

And if maple-cinnamon isn’t your thing, swap it out for churro seasoning; both flavors pair beautifully with this dough and creates irresistibly delicious cookie.

Ingredients for baking including eggs, flour, sugar, cinnamon, butter, baking powder, and a rolling pin on a kitchen countertop.
  • 3 3/4 cup flour

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp baking powder

  • 1 1/2 cup butter

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 tbsp Maple Cinnamon Topping

  • 2 whole eggs

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 1 tsp white vanilla extract

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and baking powder then set aside.

  2. Using an electric mixer, beat your butter, sugar, and maple cinnamon topping together until fluffy. Let’s say roughly 4-5 minutes.

  3. In your mixing bowl add your eggs and vanilla. Beat until combined.

  4. Next, take your flour mixture and slowly add it to your wet mixture. Take your time and slowly add it in, no need to rush this step.

  5. Next, you’ll take your plastic wrap, lay it down then scoop in your dough. I typically separate the dough into 2 packages. Once you’ve got your dough wrapped up, pop them into the fridge and let them chill for at least 30 minutes.

  6. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line your baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

  7. Once the 30 minutes are up it’s time to get onto the fun part. Flour your table and then begin rolling out your dough.

Pro-tip dust your cookie cutters with flour before use for a seamless slice.

  8. Get your cookie cutters out and have some fun. Once your cookies are ready to go transfer them to a baking sheet. Optional: sprinkle with additional maple cinnamon sugar

  9. Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes or until the edges begin to brown. Cool completely then enjoy!
