Deconstructed Burger Bowl with Secret Sauce Chips

I was recently at Detwiler’s Farm Market—literally my favorite place to buy produce in Florida. As I headed to the checkout lane, I passed the chip aisle (danger zone, I know), and of course, I had to take a peek—like I needed a reason, right? HA.

What caught my eye? Kettle Brand’s Secret Sauce Chips. One glance, and I immediately turned around to grab a few extra ingredients not even on my list, because friends—we’re turning those chips into croutons for a deconstructed burger bowl.

Let’s be real: every salad needs a little crunch factor. And if I’m eating a salad, it better be loaded with flavor. We don’t do basic salads here.

Bowls of salad with greens, chopped onions, shredded cheese, pickles, crushed Secret Sauce Chips, and a creamy dressing, along with a bowl of secret sauce potato chips on a wooden table.

Ingredients

Burger:

  • 2 Burger Patties (Big fan of Trader Joe’s Angus Chuck, Brisket & Sirloin Beef Patties - so juicy and flavorful!)

  • Dry Mustard

  • Steak Salt and Pepper Seasoning

Salad:

  • Romaine Lettuce

  • Cherry Tomatoes

  • Pickles (I’ve been loyal to Vlassic Hamburger Dill Pickle Chips since I was a wee one)

  • Red Onion

  • Pepper Jack (You can grab the shredded kind, but I love freshly grating mine for that melt factor)

  • Secret Sauce Kettle Brand Chips

  • FlavorTown Top Secret Sauce

A bowl of salad with cherry tomatoes, pickles, shredded cheese, ground beef, onions, crispy potato chips, and drizzled with a creamy dressing, next to a bowl of secret sauce potato chips on a wooden table.

Instructions

  1. If you’re making salad for two, grab about 3 romaine lettuce leaves. Stack them, roll them up tightly like a cigar, and slice thinly crosswise. Soak the sliced lettuce in cold water, give it a good rinse, then set aside to drain.

  2. Next up, the cherry tomatoes—soak, rinse, and dry them, then slice each one in half. Set aside.

  3. Thinly slice your red onion, then cut the slices in half. Set those aside too.

  4. Grab your block of Pepper Jack cheese and grate it fresh (trust me, it’s worth the extra step). Set aside.

  5. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and lightly grease it with sunflower oil. Add your ground beef or burger patties and season with dry mustard and steak salt & pepper seasoning. Cook until browned, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks.

  6. Time to assemble: Start with your romaine lettuce as the base. Then layer on the ground beef, cherry tomatoes, pickles, red onion, and grated cheese.

  7. Top it all off with a generous handful of crushed Kettle Brand Secret Sauce Chips, and finish with a drizzle of FlavorTown Top Secret Sauce.
